Exporting Widescreen footage?

As an epilogue to my Avid widescreen problem, I resolved it this morning. I had to use the resize option to correct it (100% horizontal, 75% vertical), as the mask options merely gated the footage.

before I destroy a DVD doing a trail run - can someone tell me what happens when I export a DVD using compined 4:3 and 16:9 footage? Do I tell it to export it as 4:3 or 16x9?
